Joash (Jehoash or Joas (in Douay-Rheims) (Hebrew: יְהֹואָשׁ, Yəhôʾāš ; "Jehovah-given"; Greek: Ιωας; Latin: Joas; fl. c. 800 BC), sometimes written Joash or Joás (Hebrew: יֹואָשׁ, Yôʾāš)), was the eighth king of the southern Kingdom of Judah, and the sole surviving son of Ahaziah. His mother was Zibiah of Beersheba (2 Kings 12:1).was the only descendant of the house of David living at the time of Ahaziah's death that escaped slaughter at the hand of his grandmother, Athaliah. He was King of Judah from 836 – 797 BC.

2 Kings 11:13-20 - Jehoiada commanded Athaliah to be led forth out of the Temple to be put to death

(1.) A contracted form of Jehoash, the father of Gideon (Judges 6:11, Judges 6:29; Judges 8:13, Judges 8:29, Judges 8:32).
(2.) One of the Benjamite archers who joined David at Ziklag (1 Chronicles 12:3).
(3.) One of King Ahab's sons (1 Kings 22:26).
